scapegoat by pseudomanitou

A scapegoat was an animal that was driven off into the forest during Yom Kippur ceremonies. Today, the word refers to individuals who are blamed for society's problems, usually as a way of distracting attention from the real causes of those problems. The amusing thing is, making a person a scapegoat - means creating a false legend: making them an enemy without any real understanding of who the enemy is. -- For the scapegoat, this situation, this misunderstanding - can be an ideal...

Medium: digital, vector - from ink illustration
Tags: city ram boxer scapegoat
Brisco by Night by Damalia

A long-overdue commission for Poufy Werewolf, as left over from last summer. It's her werewolf character Brisco just after his monthly transformation.

The photo hardly does justice to the actual painting, which I have to say, is an absolute gem. I wish I could have kept it.

Vixen Ayn by Kacey

Girl-type Ayn Blackfox, "Vixen Ayn" , wearing white leathers...

I decided to do some funky lighting, otherwise there would be far too much white in the image. Funky lighting practice is good =). I also did the fur a little differently. I hope the fur looks suitably tactile.

Ayn Blackfox is copyright Kazmer Kovacs.

Done in inks and acrylic paints on 9"x12" illustration board.

Searching the Heavens by vantid

"Searching the Heavens" Starfields are vast and quiet and can bring out the loneliness in us all, or can bring out the thread of inspirations. We can look to the sky for freedom, for hope, out of sorrow or desolation, or just to enjoy the beauty the night sky unveils.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This drawing was done completely from the study skinds of a jackdaw (the same used in Organic II) and a female Australian Magpie. That means this is the first piece I have done completely from a "still life", though the colors aren't what they are in life. I still have a deep love for creating glowing images on black paper with colored pencils. This piece is entirely colored pencil, though I am tempted to go back in with some white paint to make the image pop more.
Medium: Colored Pencil
Tags: bird Raven crow stars Magpie orion corvus currawong corvis corbie cosmos ethereal taurus
Araikao 2007 by Melanippos
She who dances continues the tradition forward into her SEVENTH year!
This years Araikao prophecy dance seems to project confidence and certainty - she know where she's going, knows the steps to take and is well in control of her pace.She is moving forward in a sprightly stride, green for growth, vibrant with intent, and she's wearing diamonds on the soles of her shoes.
Shes fit, she's muscular, she's happy. Looks like its going to be a good year.
Of course I won't be certain until the end of the year and I can look back with the 2008 Araikao dancing on the threshold yet again.
The improvement in anatomy is splendid.
This is the first time I have worked her soley in colour pencil and it has certainly paid off!
To see the previous six Araikao pictures Click here
Medium: Coloured Pencil
Tags: unicorn scarf future dancer fortune dreadlocks annual prophecy omen
She who dances continues the tradition forward into her SEVENTH year!
This years Araikao prophecy dance seems to project confidence and certainty - she know where she's going, knows the steps to take and is well in control of her pace.She is moving forward in a sprightly stride, green for growth, vibrant with intent, and she's wearing diamonds on the soles of her shoes.
Shes fit, she's muscular, she's happy. Looks like its going to be a good year.
Of course I won't be certain until the end of the year and I can look back with the 2008 Araikao dancing on the threshold yet again.
The improvement in anatomy is splendid.
This is the first time I have worked her soley in colour pencil and it has certainly paid off!
